Married...With Children

No other American Sitcom has been treated so badly by UK broadcasters as Married...With Children.As of June 2007, over 10 years after it was cancelled, it has still not aired uncut all the way through on any UK channel. As i can remember it, here is the UK broadcasters hall of shame for Married...With Children:

ITV 1988-1996.
MWC first aired in the uk on ITV.Back in the time ITV had this series, it was shown late at night and regionally. ITV was split into regions which showed network shows during primetime, but after 10:30 each region did their own thing (A bit like American affiliate stations). As a result some regions were very good with it, while others showed it one week, then took it off for 3 weeks to show movies or sport.When it finished on ITV in 1996, those regions furthest ahead had reached the end of Season 6 (1991/1992 American Season). The only good thing ITV did with it was show it uncut.

Sky One 1997-1999
Sky One is only avaliable on Satellite & cable. They showed every episode several times in a good time slot as well, 6.30pm. The problem with Sky One was they edited them...very badly!. In one episode Al jumped into bed, then straight back out again, while the audience laughed. Sky took the whole joke out. They did run some episodes uncut late at night, but refused to air the whole series uncut late at night

1999-2005: Paramount Comedy Channel
Like Sky One, this is a Satellite & cable station.The problem with Paramount and MWC was they never showed the whole series. Initally they bought seasons 1 thru 3 & showed them over & over weeknights at 8pm. Eventually they added seasons 4 thru 8, but only showed these a few times before moving it to late night then dropping it.

ITV 2: 2005-2006.
The show has gone full circle and ended up back in the hands of ITV. It did air on ITV 2 which is on Freeview, Satellite & Cable. They showed it at 7pm most weeknights with an occasional showing after midnight. However they only had seasons 4 thru 8.

ITV 4 2007:
Another channel in the ITV stable did show it, but it had no regular slot and was being used as a filler when they needed it. Thanks again ITV!!.It has now gone again & isn't airing on any UK tv channel.

Why no channel has never shown this series uncut all the way through is beyond me. Hopefully FX may pick it up at some stage, until then the only answer is the DVD's which are now avaliable in America & Europe, Seasons 1-11 (the entire series) are now on sale.Note that season 3 onwards has a different theme tune though, so even those are not complete.The UK dvd releases are just starting.
